Italia Yachts’ new project, the IY 20.98, is a mini maxi that expands the range upwards, with a design that encompasses classic, contemporary and modern styles. The hull is tapered to achieve a slender and elegant line that exudes charm while sailing. Performance is a top priority for Italia Yachts, and this project is no exception, delivering on the expectations of the most demanding owners, whether cruising or racing in competitive regattas. The hull features technologically advanced construction techniques, including optical fibers lamination, developed in collaboration with B&G, Volvo and Allspar, as well as leading research centers in the infusion lamination sector.
The IY 20.98 is also a “green boat,” designed to minimize consumption and offer optional equipment such as a lifting keel for navigation on different waters. The new sail plan provides brilliant performance in light winds, and steering the boat is pure fun. The hull geometry ensures advanced stability and absolute safety even in high winds, which is a hallmark of the Italia Yachts range.
Exterior Design
The project is designed for navigation with a ‘mixed crew’, sailors and guests, the halyards are managed by winches at the mast foot while the winches are positioned at the stern for adjusting the sheets, for perfect handling even with a small crew. On deck, the living spaces are ample and there are hatches and large windows to ensure a beautiful natural light in the interior. The cockpit is comfortable and welcoming, the guests will be able to move easily in the external / internal passage thanks to the free walkway, left by the off-center table on the left side.
Interior Design
The yacht’s interiors have been designed with a focus on ergonomics and aesthetics, using new, high-quality materials that prioritize weight reduction while creating luxurious onboard spaces. Notably, the layout can be customised to suit the owner’s personal preferences. One popular choice is a galley-salon layout, typically found on larger vessels, with a separate crew area at the aft end of the boat.
