We are thrilled to announce the new Elan GT6 has just won a “Red Dot: Product Design” award. The “Red Dot” is the most sought-after industrial design award in the world. The 2021 winners were chosen from a pool of 7800 applicants from 60 countries. The GT6 previously won the Oceanway award for Best Interior Design and is short-listed for the International Yacht and Aviation award.
The Elan GT6 is an ambitious collaborative project between Elan Yachts, Studio F. A. Porsche and Humphreys Yacht Design.
The GT6 is designed to be easily handled by a couple yet capable of exhilarating performance across a wide range of wind and sea conditions. Its hull, drawn by Humphreys Yacht Design, combines race-derived features with the ability to carry a full cruising payload, perfectly optimised for short-handed, medium-range cruising. Combined with extensive CFD modelling, the yacht design produced a thoroughbred sailboat that delivers exhilarating performance on all points of sail.
Smart Cruising – Another New Elan Impression 45.1 Delivered in Sydney.
Congratulations to proud owners Robin & Conny on taking delivery of their long awaited Edelweiss, a beautifully finished and expertly crafted Elan Impression 45.1. These savvy buyers made use of the depreciation deduction stimulus offered by the ATO for a new yacht in charter. Edelweiss will soon start work within the Cumberland Charter Yachts fleet in the Whitsunday Islands.
Needless to say the couple are delighted with their new yacht and plan to enjoy life aboard prior to sailing her north.
The Elan Impression 45.1 oozes style and sophistication with attention to detail at every level. The woodwork is beautifully crafted with plenty of solid wood handrails, fiddles and trim. The elegant lines of this new deck catch the eye and the raised coachroof allows for masses of volume, light and ventilation below deck. Under sail she is perfectly balanced and reaches impressive speeds even in light airs.
This is the 2nd Elan Impression 45.1 to arrive in the past few months. The sistership, Balu, is available for charter with the Sydney By Sail fleet in Darling Harbour.
There were perfect conditions for the hand over sail last week on Sydney Harbour. Proud owners Alistair & Alison were thrilled to bits with their new toy, “marri nuwi” and looking forward to some extended cruising and competitive racing at Port Hacking Yacht Club, south of Sydney. The Elan E4 continues to be our #1 seller, with deliveries now across Australia.
Elan’s quality is quite extraordinary and clearly evident with beautifully crafted cabinetry with plenty of solid wood trim, elegant, clean lines, and surprisingly lots of space below that really help give the E4 a feel of style sophistication. As for the performance, just by the look, you know she’s fast.
“We were looking for a boat with a high standard of finish and good performance in light airs, at the right price to cruise and race. We sold the Dufour in August 2020. We inspected an Elan S4 in September and placed an order after comparing it to other boats.
The factory sent regular photos showing the various stages of the build, which was very useful.
The boat was completed by early December, shipped to Sydney by late February, and launched at Rozelle by mid-March 2021, which was about 6 months from placing the order, a commendable effort for both the factory and the fit-out team in Sydney.
Our sail on Sydney Harbour last week with 12 to 14 knots of wind was a great location for our first test sail. Ed provided Alison, who helmed the boat, with good advice and the boat was both stable and quick through the water. Upwind the sloping seats and elevated footrest for the helm ensured our comfort. The helm was extremely light due to the twin rudder arrangement, with no sign of weather helm.
Internally the boat is spacious and comfortable, we slept well in the forward cabin over the Easter break, and the cushions and fabrics are to a high standard. I would also like to note the high standard of interior fit-out and cabinetry, the Light Oak finish with its solid wood edging should be long lasting.
Both the cabin table and cockpit table should have no trouble accommodating 6 people in style.”
