Cruising World Magazine has named the Dufour 382 as the ‘Best Midsize Cruiser’ in its 2016 Boat of the Year awards, with all nominations tested by an independent panel of judges over a 10-day period in October with dockside inspections and sea trials.
The Dufour 382 came out on top over another Dufour, the 350, the Hanse 315 and the Marlow-Hunter 31. Herb McCormick, Cruising World’s Senior Editor, said that “the choice in this category came down to the two Dufours, which were nearly identical in terms of workmanship, styling, deck layout, hardware and other features. Both boats sailed well.
Of the 382, judge Tim Murphy said, ‘I quite like this boat. Sailing it was really a lot of fun. The helms felt really good. You had to play the main in order to steer properly, but that was easy to do. So it was a really happy experience sailing this boat. I also liked moving around, especially on deck.’
The Dufour 382 features a spacious cockpit layout with plenty of room for entertaining as well as storage, sleek lines, and a versatile, customisable interior. It has six interior layout options, with two or three cabins, one or two heads and owners can also choose an in-line or traditional L-shaped galley.
This award is the seventh Boat of the Year Award Dufour has won since 2009.
